There were 1500 patents for gadget canes in America alone. Canes were made of ivory, porcelain, enamel, gold, silver, hand carved wood, glass, narwhal tusk, bakelite, cloisonné, whale bone, rhino horn, ebony, snake wood, Wedgwood, gemstones just to name a few. Canes and walking sticks are divided into 3 categories folk art, city sticks, and gadget canes. People didn't use a cane they wore their cane.
